Demand Justice for the Femicide of Daniela Martell

The case of the disappearance and subsequent discovery of Daniela Martell's body in San Luis Potosí has shocked the community. After an intensive search, her car was found in Villa de Zaragoza, where a clandestine grave with her skeletal remains was located nearby. Initial investigations suggested that she was kidnapped, and the lines of inquiry point to drug trafficking and issues with her ex-partners.

The arrest of Paloma Crespo, a former candidate of the Movimiento Ciudadano party for the mayoralty of Villa de Zaragoza, linked the Martell case to politics. The State Attorney General, Manuela García Cázares, reported in a press conference that Martell was kidnapped, murdered, and her body dissolved in acid. This case adds to a series of femicides that demonstrate gender violence in Mexico.

Family members, friends, and collectives have expressed their outrage and demanded justice for Daniela Martell Orozco, a 43-year-old InDrive driver and painter. Her disappearance on January 6, 2025, triggered the search and pertinent complaints that led to the arrest of five suspects linked to the case. The Attorney General confirmed through forensic evidence that the skeletal remains found belong to Martell.

Martell, a painting enthusiast and mother of two, was known for her work at InDrive and her exhibitions at local museums. The local community mobilized in marches to demand justice not only for her case but for all unresolved cases of gender violence in the country.
